❗ Why it’s risky or incorrect:
1. Risk of dryness
Many sunscreens (especially those with chemical filters) don’t provide enough hydration — and some can actually draw moisture out of the skin. Without a hydrating layer underneath, your skin may become dry, flaky, or irritated.
2. Compromised skin barrier
Applying SPF directly onto dry, unprepped skin can stress or weaken your skin barrier — especially if your skin is already sensitive. This can lead to redness, stinging, tightness, or itchiness.
3. Uneven application
Sunscreen can go on patchy or unevenly without a smooth, hydrated base. That means inconsistent protection — some areas may get too little product, leaving you exposed.
4. Makeup issues
If you apply makeup on top, sunscreen without prior moisturizing can pill, cling to dry areas, or exaggerate pores and texture. This is especially noticeable on dehydrated skin.
